A one-woman Historical Reenactment of the life of Bessie Coleman, the world’s first African-American female to become a licensed pilot in the 1920’s, written and performed by her great niece, Gigi Coleman.
Gigi Coleman keeps her Great Aunt Bessie Coleman’s legacy alive through this inspirational performance. In The Life of Bessie Coleman,First African-American Female Aviator, Gigi provides information about this historical hidden figure that you cannot get on the Internet or in the history books. Ms. Coleman is passionate about sharing her great-aunt’s story and helping inspire our youth to explore careers in aviation as well as follow their passions and dreams.

ABOUT MS. COLEMAN
Gigi Coleman, retired Chicago city official, teacher, paralegal, and the great niece of pilot Bessie Coleman, is passionate in her endeavors to inform the world about Bessie’s achievements in the field of aviation. She tours her one-woman show about her great aunt nationally and internationally, telling Bessie’s story to challenge the minds of the young and old, and to encourage individuals to achieve their dreams.
Ms. Coleman wants to inspire youth to be interested in STEM and so in 2013 established her nonprofit aviation program, the Bessie Coleman Aviation All-Stars, whose mission is to expose disadvantaged youth to career opportunities in the field of aviation.
